CharacterComic Book Guy
Behind the counter of The Android's Dungeon reigns the most sarcastic nerd in Springfield, always ready to declare "Worst. Episode. Ever." His real name, Jeff Albertson, was only revealed in 2005, in an episode aired after the Super Bowl: an ordinary surname chosen, according to showrunner Al Jean, to disappoint the fans. Add his master's degree in folklore and mythology, his wedding to Kumiko officiated by Stan Lee, and his voices — Hank Azaria in the original version, Patrick Guillemin then Pierre Laurent in French. By the end, this insufferable grouch will seem almost endearing.
"Worst. Episode. Ever." Always quick to fire off a scathing review, Comic Book Guy is the caricature every fan adores.
The cantankerous owner of Springfield's comic book store, this sarcastic nerd is one of the tastiest supporting characters in the show. Here is Comic Book Guy's profile.

Who is Comic Book Guy?
Comic Book Guy (le Vendeur de BD in the French version) is the owner of Springfield's comic book store, "The Android's Dungeon". Morbidly obese, ponytail flying, he is a snobbish, cynical and quarrelsome nerd — the archetype of the condescending comics fan, whom Bart and the town's children run into regularly.
🧶 The owner of The Android's Dungeon lets his ponytail fly in the wind; when you're the one crossing town in the dead of winter to reach your comic book store, our Simpsons beanies keep your head warm, where he leaves his bare.
A real name long kept hidden
For years, the character had nothing but his nickname. His real name, Jeff Albertson, is only revealed in 2005, in an episode aired right after the Super Bowl: "My name is Jeff Albertson, but everyone calls me Comic Book Guy". According to showrunner Al Jean, this deliberately ordinary name was chosen… to disappoint the fans, the reveal being placed during the Super Bowl to reach as many viewers as possible.
The caricature of the fan
Comic Book Guy is a meta satire of fans themselves: perpetually dissatisfied, he hands down his final verdicts — the famous "Worst. Episode. Ever." — often while breaking the fourth wall, like a jab aimed at the viewers. Holder of a master's degree in folklore and mythology, he ends up marrying Kumiko, a manga artist, at a wedding officiated by… Stan Lee in person.
✏️ Comic Book Guy judges, Kumiko draws: in this couple, it's the manga artist who holds the pencils. For your own sketches, our Simpsons pencil cases keep your markers, pencil leads and eraser together in your bag.

🗄️ At the Springfield Arms, Comic Book Guy won't part with a single thing on his shelves; on the one in your bedroom, our Simpsons figures make up a collector's display you won't want to sell either.
The character's voice actors
In the original version, Comic Book Guy is voiced by Hank Azaria — also the voice of Moe, Apu and Chief Wiggum. In the French version, he was played by Patrick Guillemin for the early seasons, then by Pierre Laurent from season 10 on.
