The episode "Kamp Krusty"
"Kamp Krusty" — "Les Jolies Colonies de vacances" in the French version — is the season 4 opener, aired in 1992. Bart and Lisa head off to a summer camp branded with Krusty the Clown's name… which will very quickly turn out to be anything but a dream vacation.
A nightmare camp
On site, it is hell: Krusty has simply licensed out his name, and the camp is in fact run by the cruel Mr. Black, with the school bullies (Jimbo, Dolph and Kearney) as counselors. On the menu: forced marches, vile gruel and assembly-line wallet making. To calm the children down, they even go so far as to dress Barney up as a fake Krusty.
👛 At Kamp Krusty, wallets are churned out on an assembly line between forced marches; our Simpsons wallets, on the other hand, reach you ready-made, all set to hold your pocket money.

Bart's revolt
It is Bart who lights the fuse: he leads a revolt in the style of Lord of the Flies and renames the place "Camp Bart". Mr. Black flees, and the real Krusty finally turns up, sheepish. Ashamed of having sold off his name for money, he makes amends by taking the children to spend two weeks in Tijuana.
✊ At "Camp Bart", Bart's name takes the place of Krusty's; to put your own stamp on things, from your bedroom door to your laptop lid, our Simpsons stickers handle it, no revolt required.
An aborted movie
A small production footnote: after seeing the episode, producer James L. Brooks suggested turning it into a feature film. The idea was quickly dropped — but it says a great deal about the richness of an episode that, years later, would even get a genuine sequel.
